News from the nest
Water, water, everywhere! We loved spending time playing in these enourmous puddles and the opportunities for learning were fantastic! We developed our core strength, co-ordination and stamina by wading through the water and keeping ourselves upright. Our understanding of scientific terms such as floating and sinking was enhanced and we got to do some problem solving too, working out why some leaf boats would float as well as others (more surface area = better floating), and wondering how we could make our boats travel faster (pushing and blowing worked well.)
We tested whether stones or pinecones made bigger splashes and watched, mesmerised as they created ripples in the surface of the water. Our vocabularies were boosted by hearing and using all of these lovely new words too.

We are loving making new friends at our local residential home. The children bring such huge smiles to the faces of the residents, and the children themselves are benefitting from improved social skills as they learn what is appropriate and inappropriate behaviour, develop empathy and get to spend time in the company of people who are genuinely pleased to see them and interact with pleasure and interest.
